Allergy in children to insect bites
For children with allergies, insects, which do not pose a particular danger to most people, become a real natural disaster. Summer, a great time to be in nature, in the forest, on water bodies can be darkened for you if your child suffers from hypersensitivity to insect bites. At the very least, you should have a baggage of knowledge and skills on how to protect a child or avoid the consequences of being bitten by mosquitoes, wasps, etc. if the child’s body is hypersensitive to insect allergens.
Ways of penetration of the allergen into the body
The first way is with poison when a hymenoptera bites.
The second – along with the saliva of bloodsucking when they bite.
The third way is the penetration of body particles or dust from insects through the human respiratory system.
Hymenoptera such as bees, bumblebees, hornets, and wasps cause severe allergies. Allergies are also caused by blood-sucking insects such as mosquitoes, midges, mosquitoes, horseflies. It is good that children rarely suffer from severe allergies, such as anaphylactic shock.
From which insects you can most often expect a bite
Bees attack only if they or their family are in danger. In addition, it is generally known that a bee dies after being bitten. Wasps, on the other hand, can attack for no reason, they personally do not have any harm from this. They live in different parts of the human home, so their attacks can always be expected. You can completely ignore and accidentally disturb a hornet’s nest also in nature: in a hollow of a tree or underground. It is easy to notice the hornet’s nest: it is large, it has a hole below.
Insect bites leave a mark on the skin of all people, but most do not develop allergies. The skin reaction is usually a small local edema, itching, redness, and all this lasts no more than a day.
The severity of the allergic reaction to the bites
Mild. There is swelling, intense redness that can spread to large areas. Sometimes they can turn into urticaria, redness and itching intensify. General phenomena may appear: an increase in body temperature, chills. This reaction can last up to two days or more.
Average degree. In addition to manifestations on the skin, swelling of the mucous membranes may occur, the general condition may worsen, the heart rate increases, weakness and headache occur. An allergy-prone child should be wary of every next bite, as the first may not cause severe allergies. The reasons for such a reaction of the body may be a tendency to all kinds of allergic diseases and a hereditary predisposition. Fortunately, insect bite allergies do not show up with the bite of any stinging and blood-sucking attacker. There is an acute reaction to a certain type of insect. If you are allergic to a bee sting, there may be a reaction to other beekeeping products such as propolis.
The intensity of an insect bite allergy depends on the individual, the location of the bite and the amount of poison. For example, a person is a very vulnerable place in terms of consequences. The most severe manifestation of allergy is anaphylactic shock, which can be caused by any causative agent of allergy – food, medication, herbal, as well as an insect bite. It is manifested by a sharp decrease in pressure, nausea, pain in the chest, often fainting. Anaphylaxis can range from mild to fulminant and fatal. But it is impossible to predict what form will be in this case. Therefore, it is necessary to immediately seek emergency help if you suspect such a severe allergy.
In addition, people who have suffered at least once in any form of a similar allergy, it is necessary in a dangerous period to have a fast-acting antishock substance – adrenaline, and an appropriate syringe.
